WOUNDED HEALERS - Part 3

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." - (2 Cor 1:3-4)

God Turns Pain Into Purpose

No story demonstrates this more tenderly than that of Peter. Outspoken, passionate, and brave — until fear gripped his heart. He denied Jesus three times and wept bitterly. That night, the sound of the rooster's crow marked the lowest point of his life.

But Jesus didn't leave Peter in his failure. After His resurrection, He met him again by the sea — the very place their journey began. "Peter, do you love me? Feed my sheep." (John 21:17) The rooster's crow once marked Peter's failure, but soon his voice would echo through Jerusalem, calling thousands to repentance at Pentecost. His failure didn't disqualify him; it equipped him. His pain became compassion; his guilt became grace.

Lesson: Our failures don't define us — God's redemption does.

When we've been forgiven much, we love much. And that love becomes the fuel for ministry.

God Never Wastes a Wound

Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

Even Jesus carried His scars after the resurrection. He could have chosen a new, perfect body without a trace of the cross. But He didn't. When Thomas doubted, Jesus didn't lecture him — He invited him. "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side." (John 20:27)

The very marks of suffering became the evidence of His power and love.

If even the Son of God kept His scars, then our scars, too, have meaning. They remind us not of defeat, but of deliverance; not of weakness, but of grace.

A young boy once fell and broke his arm. After it healed, he looked at the scar and said to his father, "Daddy, I'll never forget how you carried me that day." Our scars are reminders of how God carried us — not of how we fell.

Conclusion: The Power of Surrendered Wounds

Every one of us has walked through seasons of hurt. Some have been misunderstood, others betrayed, still others have faced loss, sickness, or shame. But in every story, God is writing a redemptive ending.

He doesn't just heal us from pain — He heals us through pain. The very tears that once fell in sorrow can water the seeds of hope in someone else's life. So don't hide your scars. Let them speak. Let them testify. Your story can become someone else's survival guide. Your pain can become someone else's peace. Your wounds can become someone else's witness.

Like Joseph, Moses, Peter — and above all, Jesus — God will use your scars to tell His story of grace.

Reflection: "God never wastes a wound — He transforms it into a witness."

Today, bring your pain to the Lord. Let Him turn your wounds into worship, your sorrow into a song, and your scars into stories that glorify His name. And when someone else is hurting, don't be afraid to say, "I've been there — and God brought me through." Because it's often through our brokenness that others find their breakthrough.

Prayer: Lord, You are the Healer of broken hearts and the Redeemer of wounded souls. Thank You for never wasting our pain. Teach us to see Your purpose in our struggles, to find strength in our scars, and to comfort others with the same comfort we have received. Use our stories for Your glory and make our wounds a wellspring of healing to others. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
